Pervious concrete is a special type of concrete which has a high void ratio. Due to its characteristic structure, it has low compressive strenght, resulting in its limited application. It is commonly used for the construction of roads with low traffic load. The goal of this study is testing impact of various polymers to properties of pervious concrete. This study is composed of two parts, first part being theoretical and second experimental. First part describes pervious concrete properties and its advantages and disadvantages. Polymer modified concrete properties are also described as well as polymers themselves that were used in experimental part. Second part provides results of experiments conducted in the laboratory of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Osijek. Five mixtures of pervious concrete were prepared, a regular pervious concrete mixture as a reference mixture and four pervious concrete mixtures with different types of polymers added with the aim to improve mechanical properties and to solve problem of clogging in case of pervious concrete. Manufacturer Sika d.o.o. has provided all polymer additives used for experiments. Latex and polypropylene fibers were added to concrete mixtures with the aim to improve the interfacial zone between aggregate and cement paste which was expected to result in better mechanical properties of pervious concrete. The purpose of concrete specimens immersion in their hardened in water repellent impregnation was to prevent moisture penetration in concrete structure, and that to reduce dirt adhesion to surface of concrete as well to reduce pores clogging over time. Experiment results show that adding polypropylene fibers to mixture increases compressive strenght, flexural strenght and permeabillity of concrete, while adding latex and water repellent impregnation increases only compressive strenght.
