Today concrete is one of the most used building material in the world. Almost a century and a half, how much concrete is applied, its covered 70% of the needs in building requests and became the main infrastructure and urban base of modern life. However, concrete is still very debatable. Wrong understanding in the past about its „eternal“ durability are slowly corrected. Today's accelerated development in all parts of human life is followed by development in construction that imposes new demands such as greater durability, greater strenght, easier construction and greater cost-effectiveness of construction constructions. Those demands regular concrete couldn't satisfy so they started researching on getting new, improved construction materials. In this paper was performed an analysis and comparison of properties for two concrete mixtures. First, reference mix, contains a stone flour and in the second mix the proportion of stone flour was replaced with ash produced by the burning of shells of sunflower seeds in Ĉepin oil refinery. Studies were conducted on both mixtures in fresh condition. Then cube and prism patterns were made on which the tests were conducted in the hardened condition after 7 and 28 days. Based on the test results and comparison a conclusion was made that the concrete reinforced with ash of shells of sunflower seeds was less suitable for concrete application compared to concrete with stone flour. The reason for this is the low prosessingability of such a concrete mix which is the cause of poorer compaction in the molds. That then causes less compressive and tensile strength and a great water permeability of concrete.
